On Wednesday 16th July 2025, the Securities and Futures Commission (โ€œSFCโ€) released its yearly survey of Asset and Wealth management activities 2024.

The 2024 Survey highlights key trends and growth in Hong Kongโ€™s asset and wealth management sector. The Survey reports strong AUM and net fund inflows, rising adoption of innovative fund vehicles like open-ended fund companies (“OFCs”), and expanding activities of Mainland Chinese firms. The results of this Survey reflect Hong Kongโ€™s resilience and its continuing role as a leading global asset and wealth management hub.

โœ… Hong Kongโ€™s asset and wealth management business grew strongly in 2024, with assets under management (“AUM”) reaching HK$35.1 trillion, up 13% year-on-year, and net fund inflows surging 81% to HK$705 billion.

โœ… The performance of Hong Kong companies who were related to Mainland Chinese groups increased, with their AUM rising 15% to HK$3.1 trillion and net fund inflows up 68%, continuing a five-year trend of above-average growth.

โœ… Hong Kong-domiciled SFC-authorised funds saw net fund inflows surge 88% in 2024 to HK$163 billion, with total AUM increasing 22%, highlighting strong investor confidence in local funds.

โœ… The investor base remains diversified with over 54% of assets coming from outside Mainland China and Hong Kong, reflecting Hong Kongโ€™s global asset allocation capabilities.

โœ… The number of registered open-ended fund companies nearly doubled (93% growth), demonstrating industry adoption of Hong Kongโ€™s corporate fund structure and government incentives
