🔔 SFC Annual Report 2025 – 26: Key Highlights 🔔
The SFC’s latest Annual Report features the regulator’s strategic priorities as Hong Kong continues to strengthen its market resilience, competitiveness and responsible innovation.
Key statistics for the reporting year include:
Licensing
➡️There are 3,470 SFC-licensed firms (a 4.3% increase from the last reporting year) and 50,924 licensed individuals.
➡️A total of HKD 2.33 trillion AUM for HK domiciled funds.
[With reference to the most recently issues 2025 SFC Asset and Wealth Management Survey, the total AUM (HK and overseas) as of 31 Dec 2025 was 4.2 trillion (a 20% increase from 2024)].
➡️The SFC approved approximately 81.7% new corporate and 97.9% individual licence applications.
Supervision and Enforcement
➡️The SFC conducted 212 on-site inspections, identifying 1,856 breaches primarily related to internal control weaknesses, breaches of the Code of Conduct, and AML non-compliance.
➡️The SFC fined 13 corporations for $84.5 million and disciplined 23 individuals.
Virtual Assets
➡️12 virtual asset trading platforms (VATPs) (as of March 2026).
➡️67 SFC-licensed Type 1 VAs and 88 SFC-licensed Type 9 VAs (as of July 2026).
Listing Applications
➡️603 new listing applications received (+282% from the prior year).
